The story:
A tale has been told about a young explorer who was captured by an evil monster and was enslaved to dig the maze of red bricked mines of Kablam out for jewels. That was the least of the monster's worries. It was however more of a fear for the miners. The mines were infested with giant spiders. Many of the workers were forced to dig the mines, until either their goal was achieved, or one of the spiders had captured the slaves and had them for din, dins. Om, nom, nom, nom! Many centuries have passed, and the tale is still told today to the yellow ball community. Frederik (which is you) doesn't really believe in such a tale and assumed that it was just plain nonsense. There was one part of the story which Frederik believed in. The tale about the diamonds and the mines, which could make the poor yellow ball community rich. He decides to see whether or not the tale was true.
Frederik travelled far from his home, over the hills directly to the mines of Kablam. There was no monster in sight to enslave him. Seeing all those pretty diamonds in sight caused him to want to be greedy. He enters the red bricked mine, and then suddenly the entrance got sealed behind him. He then finds himself inside a maze. Not with just beautiful diamonds, but with spiders. The only way for him to survive is with your help.
Playing the game:
You are Frederik the yellow ball. A cute little hero in this game. He is trapped inside a maze of mines, full of diamonds, and 4 deadly spiders. Your quest is to simply help Fred pick up all of the mines in 16 different mazes and survive. You will only have 3 lives to start with, but luckily there is help at hand. At the start of each level, or a loss of a life, you will be given temporary protection from the spiders. Each spider moves only in a straight direction from one web to another. Then it will decide which way it will move next in a random fashion.
Sadly you won't be able to escape the mines, due to the entrances being completely sealed up. However, if you pick up all of the diamonds. You will automatically leave one mine and move over to another. You will be faced yet more spiders and probably some additional good or nasty surprises. If you complete the 16th mine. You will be set free.
The Objects:
THE GOOD
DIAMONDS: There are plenty of those. They are very valuable. If you pick up a diamond, you will score 200 points.
LIGHT BULBS: If you pick up a light bulb. You will be fully charged up with a temporary shield – which will protect you from those nasty spiders for a short period of time. You will also be awarded 100 points.
HEARTS: Any hearts that are left strewn around the maze will reward you not only 100 points, but also an extra life.
THE BAD:
SKULLS: It doesn't matter whether you are invulnerable or not. If you try to pick up a skull, it won't budge. It will however destroy one of your precious lives. These dead skulls are a curse inside the red bricked mines, so watch out.SPIDERS: The spiders may look colourful, cute and quite harmless, but they are in fact very deadly. The spiders will move random directions according to the web they land on. You won't be able to tell which direction the spider decides to move, but there are safe paths between them. If you crash in to a spider (or vice versa), it will have you for din, dins … Beware. You don't want to be lunch do you?
DON'T RUSH
There's no time limit, but you will need to get your timing right. Work out the path where the spiders move, and try to hide from them using the planned safe paths. If you do this, then you'll probably progress better through the game.
THE LEVELSAt the start of the first level. Levels 1 – 4 will be pretty much easy, but the further you progress, the game will progress to become much harder. There is no password system involved in this game – as it was intended to become progressively harder. One of the spiders will move faster after every 4th level.
Good luck.
