e are setting out on a new phase in this magazine’s development; the new title
is more than just a name change - it’s a conceptual change, too. From now on
the magazine is going to concentrate specifically on matters relating to warga-
mes, above all on the figures but without neglecting game boards and compu-
ters. However, it is not enough simply to create another magazine, we want to be the best spe-
cialized magazine, excelling even our English-language counterparts. To this end, we are putting
quality first and aiming at ongoing improvement; we are making a quantum leap in terms of ap-
pearance with better and more spectacular photographs, we are going to publish high quality
graphic and computer print by respected graphic artists, we are going to publish the best Spanish
and international articles and we are also going to rely on the support of and contributions from
the best companies in the sector. Part of this has already been set in place, in this issue you will
already see a clear improvement in the graphics and will enjoy two magnificent prints. You will
also find an interesting interview with the Perry Brothers and a new section, kicking off with a
special feature about samurai, the first in a long series of feature sections. The aim of all this is to
highlight our hobby in Spain. That is, to publicize the wargaming sector in Spain without ne-
glecting the hobby abroad. We want you to get involved and our aim is to produce a magazi-
ne that is accessible for everyone. We hope that you will take part and if you are ready for the
challenge posed by quality and a job well done, be sure that this is also your magazine.

SALUTE 2003
O
n the 26th of April, the
Olimpia Exhibition Centre
in London held the most
important wargames fair
not only in England, with
the permission of Histori-
con, but also in the world. It is known
as Salute and it is the mecca for all
wargame enthusiasts. A large group of
Spaniards attended not only as visitors,
but also as exhibitors.
There was a big turnout for the fair
and the queue to get in was longer
than usual. Once inside and after re-
ceiving a wonderful exclusive minia-
ture gift made by Mark Copplestone,
we could really appreciate the strength
of this hobby in England. There were
tons of manufacturer stands and
demonstrations of games and re-enact-
ments
We also enjoyed seeing a magnifi-
cent group of perfectly attired English
soldiers from the Victorian period and
a wonderful demonstration about the
military training of the period; all of
which was carried out by the Victorian
Military Society. We also saw a de-
ployment of Rebels and Yankees that
were excellently depicted by the
American Civil War Society.
As far as the stands are concerned,
there was a strong presence. Gripping
Beast and their magnificent dioramas
and Redoubt Enterprises and their lat-
est products in the Victorian and
American Civil War series stood out. In
addition, Dixon Miniatures displayed
their latest Samurai figures and their
Viking series, Old Glory 15 and Battle
Honours displayed their 15mm and
25mm series and Bicorne Miniatures
had exciting new additions to their
Napoleonic series, especially the new
French mounted police and hussars.
Front Rank had their new troops from
Belgium-Holland
and
Nassau.
Wargames Foundry brought their wide
range of products and a brilliant dis-
play case exhibition of vignettes of
their figures. The Forge World stand
was amazing. They had their Titan and
the rest of the accessories for Warham-
mer. We also visited Essex Miniatures,
Renegade Miniatures, Britannia Minia-
tures, Crusader Miniatures, Platón 20
and Reaper Miniatures. Scenic design
manufacturers were also adequately
represented. Some of the attendees
were Hovels, Grand Manner, Ainsty
Casting and S&A Scenic.
Finding the Librería Atlántica stand
was a pleasant surprise for the Spanish
visitors. It was being run by Rafa and it
also had the exhibition of figures
painted by El Mercenario made up of
David and Javier, both important
collaborators of this magazine. During
the fair, the stand was the meeting
point for the travelling Spaniards.
Among the Wargame demonstra-
tions, we saw some very interesting
things, such as a wonderful reproduc-
tion of the beaches of the Normandy
landings, an excellent scene for the new
Warhammer supplement, El Cid. We al-
so saw a depiction of the taking of Berlin
by the Soviet army in World War II and
a space battle for Star Trek enthusiasts.
This is definitely a marvellous fair
that improves every year and is the es-
sential reference to be used to witness
the evolution of our hobby.
New Shop of
LA FLECHA NEGRA
They have already spent more
than 15 years since a small shop
in Madrid’s on Moratalaz district
begin selling, among audio ap-
pliances, boxes and other War-
hammer figures. That new hobby
was growing and increasingly ab-
sorbing the "primitive business" to
the point of having to move to
new premises, which almost ever-
yone knew and was on the Peñas-
cales street. But with the passage
of time and increasing fans, which
in turn require more brands, more
references, more space, and fi-
nally, over all, have made a new
bid to expand.
The new premises of La Flecha
Negra (Elvira, 1 - Madrid) available
for use and enjoyment of all fans of
a paint shop (for which they give
advice to new figures painters), ta-
ble games, demonstrations room
This includes the creation of a club
simulation inside the store. All that
remained was to say: "Long live the
new “La Flecha Negra”.
