IN THE BEGINNING…
PDEE
is a table top hunting game set in a pre-historic
world where our hunter-gatherer ancestors (and their
hominid cousins) had to hunt and eat, or be hunted and
eaten. The game seeks to model a time when humans
were not yet in control of the world around them, when
the landscape could just as easily give succour to a
struggling tribe, as it could cripple a thriving people.
The game is designed for solo play or for (mostly) co-
operative play with up to four players. In multiplayer
games, the tribal elder – also known as the oldest player
– determines the order in which players may attempt
to activate their hunters, although each player must
attempt to activate all their hunters before the turn
passes to the next player.

The basics
Models are divided into three categories:
i. hunters, armed hominids activated and controlled
directly by players and can potentially carry out
multiple actions each turn depending on their
nerves (and activation rolls!);
ii. hounds, domesticated wolves or dogs under the
limited control of players;
iii. and beasts, non-player models that react to the
actions of hunters (and hounds).
All models have a set of three attributes – Savagery,
Resilience and Bulk.
Savagery represents how fierce a model
is and how likely it is to cause harm to a
hunter. The Savagery attribute shows the
minimum number required on a 1d6 to
cause harm to a hunter during an attack.
A model’s resilience indicates how tough
it is. The Resilience attribute shows the
minimum die roll required by a hunter to
cause harm to the model when attacking
it or pelting it with missiles.
The bulk of a model represents both
its size and the amount of food it will
provide if killed. The Bulk attribute
represents the number of wounds a
model can suffer before it is killed.

In addition to their attributes, hunters have a tool type
chosen by the player, and an optional single Trait which
is rolled for randomly before the game.
