If you like the crunch and tools of EoTE, but do not like the dice system, you can always replace which dices are rolled and how are rolled. Some ideas: Rolls Idea 1: Chronicles of Darkness System - Use 10 sided dices. Dice pool = Attribute + Skill. 8s, 9s and 0s are successes. Rerrol 0s. 1 success = the task is done. 5 succeses = exceptional success. 0 succeses = failure. Rolling a 1 in a chance die = critical failure. Chance die = after all penalties and bonuses are applied, you roll 0 dices => roll 1 die instead, a chance die. Dificulties remove from 0 to 5 dice. Advantadges or equipment or favorable situations add from 0 to +5 dice. -5/+5 is the maximum number of bonus/penalty after all bonuses and penalties are applied. Rolls idea 2: Legend of The Five Rings 4th edition roll and Keep system. Use 10 sided dices. Roll as many dice as attribute + skill, and keep as many as your attribute (the ones you want, they don't have to be the highest ones), against a dificulty from 5 to 45 (average is 15). Rerol 0s. Players can raise the difficulty by 5 to add additional effects to the roll. This are called raises. Rolls idea 3: 7th sea second edition. Use 10 sided dices. Pool = Attibute + Skill. Roll and keep all dices. Make groups of 10s. Each group of 10 are successes. Skill at 3 = rerrol one dice. Skill at 4 = groups of 15 gives 2 successes. Skill at 5 = rerol 10s. Difficulty dice can be dices that roll and are substracted to the total. Or they substract the number of dices rolled. Or they add 5 to the base difficulty. Also you can add degrees of success and failure depending on number of successes rolled, or by increments of 5 succeeded/failed, trying to mimic the advantage/thread mechanic of EoTE. You only have to decide how you make the conversion for the symbols and dice type, and keep on playing EoTE if the rest of the game is of your liking. If not, try Star Wars Saga Edition. You can find complete wikis of the rules googling.
