Tourism is one of the world’s largest indus-
tries with total value of services provided
amounting globally to billions of U.S. dol-
lars annually. Travel and tourist industry is
very diverse, not merely limited to the pro-
viders of hospitality and transport by road,
air and sea. There are also a huge number
of ancillary services such as the provision
of car rental, travel insurance, passport
and visa services, health requirements,
foreign currency and traveller’s cheques,
information services provided by national
and local tourist boards and guiding serv-
ices. The present selection of terms cov-
ers only a very limited scope of activities
related to hotel and tourist industry.
