The Avant Garde Project is a series of 20th-century classical-experimental-electroacoustic torrents digitized from LPs whose music has in most cases never been released on CD, and so is effectively inaccessible to the vast majority of music listeners today. This is wild stuff, so check it out if you've never heard this sort of music before. The analog rig used to extract the sound from the grooves is near state-of-the-art, producing almost none of the tracking distortion or surface noise normally associated with LPs.

AGP1-36 are now available for direct download in the archive at www.avantgardeproject.org
AGP37-38 are available at http://thepiratebay.org/user/loudav

Ignore the seeders/leechers statistics, as they often show no seeders when in fact there are some. For the time being, a new AGP torrent is being seeded around midnight each Friday night (GMT), and is advertised on the I Hate Music Forum.

NOTE: The AGP will be off for the rest of the year. Look for AGP40 sometime in the first weekend of January--Friday night if possible, but by Sunday at the latest. We will start the new year with a two-week compendium of out-of-print works by Mauricio Kagel.

=======================================

AGP39 is the third of three installments devoted to electronic and electro-acoustic music from six different European countries. This one features productions of electronic music studios in Utrecht and Freiburg, created between 1965 and the late 1970s.

Included are four excerpts from an Einf?hrung in die Elektronische Klangumformung by Hans Peter Haller that covers two sides of an LP. The first excerpt from each side is a concatenation of a series of shorter examples of electronic sounds. The second excerpt from each side is a more extended composition, applying the techniques discussed in the Einf?hrung. The first of these compositions features the trumpet playing of Manfred Schoof. The excerpts include all electronic sounds in the Einf?hrung, but should German-speaking AGP partisans wish to hear the entire thing, the two sides in their entirety can be downloaded directly from the AGP website, at the following two URLs:
