Materials Required:
Orange card 7cm x 12cm.
Black card or paper 3cm x 12cm.
20cm lengths of tapestry wool: 3 x
Black, 3 x Brown and 3 x Orange.
Cork board and pin (optional).
Tracing paper and pencil.
Peel off greeting.
P.V.A. Craft Adhesive and
sticky tape.
Card mount: DEC4U, Dark Green.
To Make The Card:
Place the tracing paper over the
diagram of the cat and trace over all
the lines. Lay the tracing over the
orange card and, pressing firmly to
indent the card beneath, retrace over
the outline of the cat but not the
Actual Size
stripe. Place the tracing over the black card and retrace
the stripe pressing firmly as before. Cut out both the
pieces along the indented lines and glue the stripe onto
the cat.
Take the nine lengths of wool and knot one end to
hold them all together. To keep the end still whilst plait-
ing I used a cork board and pin, if you don’t have one
simply tape the end to the worktop or place under a
heavy book. Separate the wool into colours and plait the
tail, tying a knot about 2cm from the end of the wool.
Tease out these ends of wool
to make the fluffy tail.
Put the cat face down and
position the tail so it hangs
down beneath the stripe. Tape
the tail firmly onto the cat just
below the original knot and
snip the knot off as it is too
bulky to fit behind the cat
once mounted.
Glue the cat onto the card
then curve the tail round and
glue into place. Add the peel
off greeting to finish.
