Martin Luther King, Jr.* (1929-1968) was one of America’s greatest leaders. He was not a president, [1]_____ his birthday is a national holiday in the US. In the first half of the 1900s in the American South, African-Americans suffered terribly under white men’s laws. King loved his country, [2]_____ he hated these laws.
