A
s I write this editorial,
autumn is almost upon
us and I’m starting to
consider which projects
I will at least attempt in the run-
up to Scale ModelWorld at Telford
in November.
For many, this time of the
year marks the beginning of
the modelling ‘season’ as the
longer nights and usually poorer
weather provide a good excuse to
get into the hobby room. To that
end, you may notice the return
of ‘Your Airfix’ in this issue, and
I’m keen to feature more such
articles in the magazine. We
want to hear from you if there’s
a particular Airfix model you’re
proud of – all we need is around
150 words explaining the project
and you’ll have to photograph
it clearly against a white
background, then send it in to the
email address below.
We’ve a real treat in this issue in
the form of an exclusive build of
Airfix’s new-tool 1/72 Buccaneer,
and from what I’ve seen, it’s
going to be a popular one at
shows… I wonder how many there
will be for Telford? There’s also a
sneaky peek at the forthcoming
1/48 Hunter F.4, a kit re-release
with a musical connection and a
preview of Sabre Model’s brand-
new 1/35 German SSyms heavy
railcar. Airfix’s sister company
Humbrol has celebrated its
centenary this year, and to mark
the event there’s a 32-page pull-
out guide to using enamels, with
AMW
contributor Jay Blakemore
passing on whole host of tips and
techniques to get the best from
this type of paint.
