WHY DO WE BUILD MODELS?
hen talking to people about
layout features, one aspect of any
project that’s always interesting
is the motivation behind it. After all, there
has to be a pretty compelling reason to fill a
garden with concrete, ballast, track, and all
the other ingredients that make up a garden
railway. At least, that’s what the rest of the
family will want before they let you out there
with a spade to start work!
Smaller projects often have interesting
backgrounds too. In this issue, Eddie Lund
has built an unusual locomotive for the
Eddie Lund poses beside the inspiration
for his model.
W
entirely sensible reason that it’s the one he
drives on the Leadhills and Wanlockhead
Railway. Of course, because he knows the
prototype so well, the model is superbly
detailed and was undoubtedly great fun to
build.

motivation, why not share it on our letters or

Sometimes, we all need that little push to
get us started on a satisfying project so let’s
stick together in these trying times and keep
modelling!
