Affectionately referred to as “Buff” (Big Ugly Fat Fellow) the B-52, was introduced in the
50’s, and might be the first aircraft to stay in service for nearly a century. Today’s B-52H
models, delivered in the 1960’s, are expected to operate, with upgrades, through 2050.
A long-range bomber, the B-52H can fly at altitudes of 50,000 ft, has a range of 8800
miles without refueling and can carry nuclear or precision-guided, conventional
weapons. Its 159 ft. length and 185 ft. wingspan create an imposing silhouette.
