What you need to be able to run Colin McRae Rally on Windows 2000/XP:

1. Windows 2000/XP of course.
2. Codemasters Colin McRae Rally CD. My patch has been tested only with the European version.
3. Codemasters official patch 1.4 or 1.5. The original CD version has some annoying bugs that you don't want and it doesn't run at all with W2K. Download the 1.5 patch (1.2 MB) from http://www.codemasters.com/cmr/european.exe
4. My CMRONW2K.EXE program.

What you need to do to get the fix working:

1. Install Colin McRae Rally as usual but do not run it yet.
2. Apply the official patch, version 1.5.
3. Unzip the CMRONW2K.ZIP to a temporary directory.
4. Run the CMRONW2K.EXE program.
5. Start the game and enjoy!

Notes:

1. On my machine, Tyan PII450, 192MB, Matrox G400SH and Soundblaster PCI128, I must turn ON the "Motion smoothness" setting in CMR to avoid lousy framerate and choppy sound. You'll have to try settings ON or OFF yourself. Experiment!
