My mother, Ria Brown, who passed away on February 3, 2014, was the source of
much of the inspiration for this book. Indeed, there are many exercises and examples
included in this book that she collected over a period of forty years as a high school
mathematics teacher in South Africa. Her greatest passion was for Euclidean
Geometry. Some of her insights and approach to teaching geometry are included in
Chapter 9 of this book. This book is dedicated to her, in loving memory.
