look forward to later in the year,
plus the new range of ‘Beginner’
kits. It was also great to see
an increased focus on military
subjects, and we will be working
on exclusive builds of the newly
tooled 1/72 Tiger, Sherman and
1/35 Cromwell kits, plus many of
the other larger-scale offerings.
We’re delighted to feature
Airfix’s newly tooled 1/48 Tiger
Moth as the cover build for this
issue; this is accompanied by an
enlightening history article on
the type, and we’re grateful for
support from sister publication
FlyPast
for a walk-round
photoshoot of the Shuttleworth
Collection’s example.
As many readers will be aware,
this year is the 80th anniversary
of the Battle of Britain, and we’ll
be bringing you builds of several
notable combatant types over
the next few months. We start
with the Heinkel He 111, which
first flew in February 1935 and
this 85th ‘birthday’ is recognised
via ICM’s 1/48 He 111H-3 and a
splendid background feature. It’s
also a double commemoration
with Airfix’s special 1/72 He 111H-6
in heavy metal band Motörhead’s
Bomber
livery to celebrate 40
years since that iconic album
was released.
While there’s a heavy World War
Two emphasis, including Tamiya’s
gorgeous new-tool 1/48 P-38
Lightning, there’s a Trumpeter
1/32 A-37B Dragonfly for jet
fans, Bandai’s 1/144
Star Wars
Slave I for sci-fi modellers and a
1/72 MAZ-740 heavy equipment
transporter from Chinese
manufacturer Modelcollect.
