Building your hot opportunity list is a two step process:

This will be split into three lessons. It is a time-consuming and sometimes 
frustrating process. We recommend that you watch all three lessons before 
trying to implement them.

Find your Primary Products

You will find primary products that have to be removed from your list after you 
take into account the competing products.
This is completely normal.

2. Searching For Your Primary Products List 
Primary Products are products that have high enough demand to mean high 
enough sales volume.  
 
Take the following steps to build your primary products list:

2. Click in the search bar and enter the minus symbol, followed by eight or 
more random letters (i.e., “​-fkdivndqe​”). 
3. Click “All” next to your random string of letters, and select the category 
you want to sell in from the drop-down menu (make sure that
this 
will focus on the area of “Kitchen & Dining.” 
4. Scroll down the page and enter a new price range into the left sidebar: 
$16.99–$70. Then, click “Go.”

5. Click the icon with four squares, at the top right of the page, in order to 
see more results per page (this doesn’t apply for all searches, but if it’s 
there, click on it).  
6. Click the Jungle Scout icon on the top right corner of the webpage. That 
will bring up a list that looks like this:

7. This is a list of all the products on the first page of your search.

NOTE:​
Remember to keep track on what page you are on. 
9. At the bottom of the page, click the “Extract Next Page” button to reach 
Amazon’s second page of results. We recommend that you get the first 
five pages of results (which will get you 300 results).

Don’t click the button while the last request is processing. Wait 
11. Click the three lines in the top left corner of the list apply your filters: 
a. Price: $16.99 - $70 
b. Lowest rank: 100

12. Click “Filter Results.” The list will be much shorter now.

NOTE:​
In our example, coffee pods and products will pop up in our 
criteria. Go ahead and delete those.  
14. Hover your cursor over the product at the top of the list in order to bring 
up an image of that product. In our case, it’s a vegetable spiralizer. 
These are on our avoid list, so delete that option, and any options that 
are on the avoid list. 
15. The first viable product is a french press coffee maker. Click the title of 
the product to open it in a new tab.

This is a glass product, so be cautious before picking something 
like this as your product.

18. Since this product is within acceptable parameters, add it to your 
primary product list.

b. Category  
c. Price  
d. BSR  
e. Reviews  
21. Congratulations! You’ve just added your first product. 
22. Delete products from your
Jungle Scout
list
after
you have added them 
to your ASM workbook. 
 
There are two options for building your primary product list. We recommend 
you try each method: 
 
a. Go through the Jungle Scout filters and pick 10–15 products. Then 
compare competing products for each of the primary products.  
b. Find a primary product, then immediately check the competing 
products.
