NEW DATA PACKAGE V3.0 (MCU SW 4.24 & 4.25 FOR VODAFONE DE)
New data package version 3.0 (MCU SW 4.24) has been released for RM-2. MCU SW version 4.25 is only for Vodafone DE variant (0519046).
Before installing data package, please install Phoenix Service Software version A14 2004.16.4.47 or later.
If any previous RM-2 data package is installed, it must be manually uninstalled from Windows Control Panel / Add Remove programs, before installing data package version 3.0.
Product data package v3.0 includes following SW components:
- MCU SW version 4.24
- Language package files (PPM's) for MCU SW version 4.24
- MCU SW and language package files for MCU SW version 4.25 only for Vodafone DE variant (product code 0519046)
- Content packages
- RM_2.ini file (Options used in flashing. List of settings that can be saved from customer’s phone when updating software)
- <Product code>.ini files (Names of flash files. Language packages that belong to each product. Default settings for each product)
- Default SW setting files (MMS settings, WAP bookmarks etc.)
- Label printing files (rm_2lbl.ini, *.pcx)
- User interface configuration file for Product Profile tool (rm2.ppu)
- Product type specific module information for Faultlogger (rm-2en.val)
- Product type specific configuration file for the general NVD component (nvd.ini)
- TX Tuning component (rm_2_tunings.ini)
- Auto-tuning component (autotune_RM_2.ini)
- ADC Reading component for A/D Converter values (adcreadings.ini)
Changes/improvements made from MCU SW version 3.30 to version 4.24:
- Call and network management
- Emergency number handling changed according to 3GPP TS22.101, chapter 8) document version 3.16.0.
- Emergency calls are made using Full Rate speech codec only
- MS gets back to service faster after signal loss and in roaming situations.
- Audio alert corrected if the user attempts to transfer two calls while a waiting call is alerting
- BlackBerry Connectivity E-mail
- Blackberry Enterprise Server support added (BES)
- Blackberry Web Client added (BWC)
- Read Status Replication feature added
- Remote Address Lookup Table feature added
Note: The operators who have signed licence agreement with RIM (Research In Motion) and are offering the service can have BlackBerry Connectivity activated in their variant. The BlackBerry e-mail appears in Messaging menu. In most country variants this messaging feature is usually disabled.

- 4.24 SW includes one error correction to failed Type Approval field test cases:
- 1.10.1.21 Suspend/resume during EGPRS data transfer (Dial-up)
- 1.10.1.22 Suspend/resume during WAP session over EGPRS
- 1.10.4.2 Cell reselection between EGPRS capable cells during EGPR data transfer (Dial up)
- 1.10.46 EGPRS->GPRS->EGPRS cell reselection (Transfer mode)
- The nature of the error is phone reset and the correction includes DSP parameter table configuration change.
